A quiet, well-mannered little boy who just started Grade 1, this 6 year old told us that, in his opinion, the best thing about school is recess. He likes to play with cars and puzzles, his Nintendo DS, his Polar Express train set, and to ride his bike. He loves the Disney movie Cars, and wants to learn how to play the drums. He thinks he might like to be a fireman when he grows up because he likes the sirens and lights. He also has a very complex cardiac history – he was born with an ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) and VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect). He had a pulmonary artery stent placement in 2011, and a RV-PA revision. He also has a fundoplication and needed a g-tube to eat, but the exciting news is that he recently graduated to eating orally! He’s still very susceptible to respiratory tract infections, aspirations, and pneumonias, and, because of his cardiac issues, his physical activities are restricted. He’ll be able to see and do all his favourite things (and maybe even get a little rest every now and then) on his wish trip to Disney World!
