Carol wanted us to know that she is one happy girl after receiving her wish for a bedroom makeover! Just look at all the room she has in her brand new bed! “We have got it all home and set up it looks very good … Carol is planning a trip in the spring sometime to come and say thanks a million for all that you did for her. She can’t wait – we will get a nice picture of her and we’ll send it your way! Thanks a million for all that you have done for my daughter…[we] hope this will get her up and going!”
Often, big challenges are found in small packages. At just 13 years old, this little girl has seen her share of big challenges. She’s been diagnosed with Osteoporosis and Hypophosphatemic Rickets, which is characterized by low serum phosphate levels and a resistance to Vitamin D ingestion. She is extremely small for her size, and her bones break easily; often the same bone time after time. She receives many supplements and medications, and has to go to the hospital regularly for injections. She needs a wheelchair, a walker, or crutches to get around, uses a crouched position when walking, and is often in quite a lot of pain. Although she’s a tiny gal, she has a mighty personality with a great sense of humour! As you can imagine, she’s restricted as to what she is able to do physically, but when she’s feeling well, she likes to spend time with her friends and family or playing with her dad’s work iPad when she can. It’s a sure bet that once her wish comes true she’s going to love spending time with them even more in her newly made over bedroom, where she can play on her very own iPad!
